Fujifilm's budget APS-C telephoto — 76-350mm equiv with OIS in the XC economy line.
The Fujifilm XC 50-230mm f/4.5-6.7 OIS launched in 2013 as the budget telephoto zoom for Fujifilm's X-mount system. The XC designation indicates the economy tier — simpler construction than XF lenses but maintaining OIS stabilisation for the telephoto range.
Optically adequate — acceptable centre sharpness for a budget telephoto but soft at edges and at 230mm. OIS provides essential stabilisation at the longer end where the f/6.7 maximum aperture demands it. Autofocus is adequate but not fast.
Fujifilm X mount with 58mm filter thread. Weighs 375g — lightweight for the range. No weather sealing. Plastic construction including mount. XC economy tier. Minimum focus distance 110cm. No aperture ring.
Available used very cheaply. The XF 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 R LM OIS is significantly better optically. The XC is only worth using if budget is the absolute priority. Check for smooth zoom action. A functional budget telephoto for casual X-mount users.
