Fujifilm's budget telephoto zoom for X-mount with OIS stabilisation.
The Fujifilm XC 50-230mm f/4.5-6.7 OIS II is Fujifilm's budget telephoto zoom for the X-mount system, launched in 2014. Covering a 76-350mm equivalent range with OIS stabilisation, it provides useful telephoto reach for the XC consumer lens line at an affordable price point.
Optical quality is acceptable for a budget telephoto with decent sharpness at shorter focal lengths but noticeable softness at 230mm. OIS provides approximately 3.5 stops of stabilisation. The lens is lightweight at 375g and compact for the zoom range. Build is consumer-grade plastic.
Fujifilm X mount only, 58mm filter thread. The XC designation places it in Fujifilm's consumer tier below the XF pro line. The XF 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 R LM OIS offers significantly better optics with a faster aperture. The XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR provides more reach with weather sealing.
Very cheap used. Check OIS operation and AF performance at the telephoto end. The slow aperture limits use to bright conditions. For better results the XF 55-200mm is worth the premium. Adequate as a starter telephoto but most users will upgrade.
