Nikon's updated APS-C mirrorless — improved sensor and AF over the Z50 with enhanced video specs.
The Nikon Z50 II was announced in November 2024 as the second-generation DX APS-C mirrorless for Nikon Z-mount, featuring a 20.9MP DX sensor and 4K/60fps video (1.5× crop) or full-width 4K/30fps oversampled from 5.6K. No IBIS. EN-EL25a battery. At approximately 550g with battery. Near knowledge cutoff — verify current specifications against Nikon's live spec page.
20.9MP DX APS-C CMOS. 4K UHD/60fps (1.5× DX crop); 4K UHD/30fps (full DX, oversampled from 5.6K); 1080p/120fps. N-Log supported. No IBIS — relies on lens VR. EN-EL25a battery (EN-EL25 also compatible). Approximately 550g with battery. Nikon Z DX (APS-C) mount.
The Z50 II's 4K/30fps full-DX oversampled output provides higher-quality 4K than typical crop-mode 4K: the full DX sensor area is read at 5.6K and downsampled, reducing moiré and improving detail. The 4K/60fps uses a 1.5× crop. Absence of IBIS is consistent with the full Nikon DX Z mirrorless line (Z30, Zfc, Z50, Z50 II) — sensor stabilisation is not offered at this tier.
On the used market the Nikon Z50 II is available at Nikon Z DX APS-C mirrorless pricing. Condition checks: EN-EL25a battery health, 4K recording function, Nikon Z mount contacts. No IBIS. Note: announced November 2024 — verify specifications against Nikon's current page before purchase. Compatible with all Nikon Z-mount lenses (DX and FX).
