Olympus's flagship MFT camera with 20.4MP sensor, advanced IBIS, and professional weather-sealed build.
The Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III was released in 2020 as the third-generation professional Micro Four Thirds mirrorless, featuring a 20.4MP Live MOS sensor (the same sensor as the E-M1 Mark II) with 7-stop IBIS (body only), 60fps blackout-free burst, and ProCapture pre-buffer. 4K/30fps video — no 4K/60fps on this body. The E-M1 III is the last Olympus-branded E-M1-series body before the OM System rebrand.
The 20.4MP MFT Live MOS sensor. 7-stop IBIS body alone; 7.5 stops with compatible Sync IS lenses. 18fps with AF tracking; 60fps blackout-free electronic burst (AF/AE locked at first frame, up to ~50 RAW frames). ProCapture buffers up to 35 frames before the shutter is fully pressed. 4K UHD/30fps and C4K/24fps; 1080p up to 120fps. BLH-1 battery. Body weight approximately 580g with battery and SD card.
The 7-stop IBIS and ProCapture define the E-M1 III for wildlife and action use: 7-stop stabilisation enables handholding at very low shutter speeds for static subjects, while ProCapture ensures the peak action frame is captured even when the shutter press is fractionally late. The 60fps blackout-free burst operates with AF locked at first frame — for tracking moving subjects, 18fps with full AF/AE is the practical fast-burst mode. No 4K/60fps is the key video limitation.
On the used market the Olympus E-M1 Mark III is available at mid-range professional MFT pricing. Condition checks: IBIS operation, BLH-1 battery health, ProCapture function verification, and dual card slots (UHS-II SD + CFexpress Type B). Compatible with all Micro Four Thirds lenses; Sync IS active with compatible Olympus/OM System lenses.
