OM System's refined flagship with improved AI AF, computational features, and live GND filter.
The OM System OM-1 Mark II launched in 2024 as a refinement of the original OM-1. Key improvements include enhanced AI-based subject detection with expanded categories, a live Graduated ND filter effect applied in-camera, an improved 50MP handheld high-res mode, and a higher refresh rate EVF.
Key features carry over from the OM-1 including the stacked 20.4MP sensor, 120fps burst, 5-axis IBIS with up to 8.5 stops, and IP53 weather rating. The Mark II adds computational photography enhancements and AF tracking improvements that benefit wildlife and bird photographers.
The OM-1 II is praised for refining an already excellent platform with meaningful computational photography additions. It is criticised as an incremental update that does not justify upgrading from the OM-1 for most users. The live GND filter is the standout new feature.
New on used market with prices close to retail. The original OM-1 at lower used prices offers nearly identical core performance. Check the AI AF improvements with bird subjects if wildlife is your priority.
