OM System's refined flagship with improved AI AF, computational features, and live GND filter.
The OM System OM-1 Mark II was announced in February 2024 as the successor to the OM-1 (2022), using the same 20MP stacked BSI Live MOS sensor but delivering substantially faster burst rates: 50fps with continuous AE/AF tracking versus the OM-1's 25fps. A 120fps burst mode with fixed AF provides ultra-high-speed capture for action subjects. AI subject recognition improvements covered additional animal species and vehicle categories. IP53 dust and splash resistance with freeze protection continues from the OM-1.
The 20MP stacked BSI Live MOS sensor pairs with the TruePic X processor. The 1053-point computational AF system provides subject tracking with AI recognition for birds, animals, motorsports, and aircraft. Burst shooting runs at 50fps with AE/AF and 120fps with fixed AF. 4K DCI and UHD video record at up to 60fps; 1080p records at up to 240fps. IP53 dust and splash resistance with freeze protection to -10°C requires pairing with a sealed MFT lens for full system protection. Body weight approximately 599g with battery and card, dual SD/SDHC/SDXC card slots (one UHS-II).
The 50fps AE/AF burst is the OM-1 Mark II's defining practical improvement over the OM-1: at 50fps with full subject tracking the camera covers unpredictable wildlife and action scenarios where the OM-1's 25fps may miss key peak-action frames. The AI subject recognition improvements extend reliable tracking to additional species and vehicle categories. 4K/60fps and 1080p/240fps video specifications position it as capable for both stills and video-oriented wildlife work.
The OM-1 Mark II is a February 2024 product; used availability is limited. Condition checks: IBIS operation, both SD slot contacts, IP53 sealing, and battery health. The original OM-1 is available at lower prices with 25fps AE/AF burst — sufficient for many action applications. Battery is shared with the OM-1 — the BLX-1. Compatible with all Micro Four Thirds lenses from Olympus, OM System, and Panasonic.
