Panasonic's cinema-focused full-frame mirrorless — 6K video, V-Log, and unlimited recording in a robust body.
The Panasonic Lumix DC-S1H was released in 2019 as a cinema-oriented full-frame L-mount mirrorless, the first full-frame mirrorless camera approved for Netflix original content production. 6K open-gate recording at 24fps (3:2); 5.9K at 30fps; C4K/4K at up to 60fps in 10-bit 4:2:0 internal. An active cooling fan enables unlimited recording. V-Log/V-Gamut with 14+ stops dynamic range. 5-axis IBIS rated 6 stops.
24.2MP full-frame CMOS (35.6×23.8mm). 6K/24fps (3:2 open gate); 5.9K/30fps (16:9); C4K/4K up to 60fps 10-bit 4:2:0 internal (up to 4:2:2 10-bit at 30fps); up to 400 Mbps. Active cooling fan for unlimited recording. V-Log/V-Gamut (14+ stops DR); HLG. Dual Native ISO (100/640 standard; 640/4000 in V-Log). 5-axis IBIS 6 stops. DMW-BLJ31 battery. Approximately 1,164g with battery and card.
The S1H's Netflix Production approval is based on its 6K open-gate recording capability and V-Log colour science that meets the streaming platform's image quality requirements for original programming. The active cooling fan — rare at mirrorless launch — eliminates recording time limits that thermal throttling imposes on passively-cooled bodies. The Dual Native ISO provides clean high-ISO capture at base ISO 640/4000 in V-Log without electronic gain amplification.
On the used market the Panasonic S1H is available at professional cinema mirrorless pricing. Condition checks: cooling fan operation, IBIS function, DMW-BLJ31 battery health, dual SD card slots, and full-size HDMI port. Compatible with all L-mount lenses from Panasonic LUMIX S, Leica SL, and Sigma FP series. V-Log licence is included (pre-installed, no additional purchase required on S1H unlike S1).
