Sony's compact APS-C mirrorless — 16.1MP NEX with tilting OLED screen and fast hybrid AF.
The Sony NEX-5N was released approximately 2011 as a second-generation NEX model, adding a tilting LCD and 16.1MP sensor to the compact NEX body design. An early and influential compact APS-C mirrorless camera in Sony's NEX lineup. Sony E mount.
16.1MP APS-C CMOS sensor. Tilting 3-inch LCD. 10fps continuous shooting. 1080p/60fps video. Optional external EVF. At approximately 210g body. Sony E mount.
The NEX-5N added the tilting LCD (absent from the NEX-5) for above-the-head and waist-level compositing. The 10fps burst rate was competitive for a mirrorless camera of this size and price in 2011. External EVF accessory (FDA-EV1S) available. The NEX lineup was later renamed to Sony Alpha A6000-series.
On the used market the Sony NEX-5N is a vintage compact APS-C mirrorless. Condition checks: tilting LCD hinge, Sony E mount contacts, sensor for dust, battery health (NP-FW50). External EVF sold separately.
