Sony's compact APS-C mirrorless — the NEX-5T with WiFi, NFC, and touchscreen.
The Sony NEX-5T is a compact APS-C mirrorless camera from 2013 — the last in Sony's NEX-5 series before the transition to the Alpha naming. Featuring a 16.1MP APS-C sensor with WiFi, NFC, and touchscreen, it provided excellent image quality in a very compact body. The NEX-5T was one of the most compact APS-C cameras available.
Image quality from the 16.1MP APS-C sensor is good. The Hybrid AF system provides phase and contrast detection. 10fps burst shooting — impressive for the size. Full HD video with continuous AF. WiFi and NFC for easy smartphone sharing — advanced for 2013. The touchscreen provides intuitive operation. Art effects and creative modes.
Sony E mount — full compatibility with all Sony E-mount lenses. Weight is approximately 218 grams body only — extremely compact. Build quality is good with a premium feel. No viewfinder built-in — rear LCD only. The compact body pairs well with small E-mount primes and the 16-50mm PZ kit zoom.
Very affordable used. Check sensor and touchscreen. A capable compact mirrorless from the NEX era. The E-mount lens compatibility provides a huge upgrade path. Outdated by modern standards but functional. The compact size with APS-C quality remains appealing. The a6000 is the evolutionary successor.
