Canon's smallest DSLR — the Rebel SL1 (same as ID 3949 Kiss X7), the lightest APS-C DSLR ever.
The Canon EOS Rebel SL1 is the North American designation for the EOS Kiss X7 / EOS 100D described under ID 3949 — the world's smallest and lightest APS-C DSLR. Featuring an 18MP CMOS sensor with Hybrid CMOS AF II and touchscreen, it proved a DSLR could be genuinely compact without sacrificing core capability.
Image quality from the 18MP sensor is good. Hybrid CMOS AF II provides phase and contrast detection for live view and video. 4fps continuous shooting. 1080p video with continuous AF. Touchscreen enables intuitive operation. The 9-point AF system is basic but functional. Same camera as IDs 3949 — only the regional naming differs.
Canon EF/EF-S mount. Weight is approximately 407 grams body only — the lightest APS-C DSLR. Build quality is adequate consumer. Compact size pairs well with Canon's small EF-S pancake lenses. Optical viewfinder with 95% coverage. No WiFi — a limitation for 2013.
Very affordable used. Check shutter count and touchscreen. Same camera as ID 3949. The world's smallest DSLR remains impressively compact. Mirrorless alternatives are now smaller and more capable. Only of interest for the specific compact DSLR form factor.
