Canon's popular mid-range DSLR — the Rebel T5i (700D) with touchscreen and continuous AF.
The Canon EOS Rebel T5i, known as the EOS 700D in international markets and EOS Kiss X7i in Japan, is a mid-range APS-C DSLR from Canon released in 2013. It was notable at launch for introducing continuous autofocus during video recording in Canon's consumer DSLR line, making it popular with early YouTube content creators.
The T5i uses an 18-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor with Hybrid CMOS AF II for improved touch-to-focus in Live View, a fully articulating touchscreen LCD, optical viewfinder, 1080p video at up to 30fps with continuous AF, 5fps burst rate, and built-in flash. WiFi is available via an optional WFT adapter.
The continuous AF in video mode and articulating touchscreen made the T5i significantly more appealing to video-oriented photographers and beginner vloggers than the preceding models, which could not maintain autofocus during video recording. The Hybrid CMOS AF II system improved the responsiveness of touch-to-focus in Live View. The broad EF/EF-S lens ecosystem remains a major long-term advantage.
Test the fully articulating screen hinge for smooth, secure operation. Verify continuous AF tracking in video mode across different lighting conditions. Check the optical viewfinder for any fogging. Inspect the shutter count. Examine the EF mount for wear from accumulated lens swaps.
