6-bit coded Leica M macro telephoto, digital-optimised version with auto lens correction on digital M bodies.
The Leica Macro-Elmar-M 90mm f/4 (6-bit) is the 6-bit-coded version of the Macro-Elmar-M — optically identical to the non-coded variant but adds digital coding for lens identification and corner correction on Leica M digital bodies. Leica M mount.
f/4 maximum aperture. 90mm focal length (full-frame telephoto/macro prime). Macro capable with MACRO-ADAPTER-M. 6-bit digital coding. Rangefinder-coupled. At approximately 350g. Leica M mount.
The 6-bit version of the Macro-Elmar-M 90mm adds the six small dot/notch coding pattern on the bayonet that allows digital M bodies (M8, M9, M10, M11) to identify the lens and apply vignetting and distortion correction profiles. Optically identical to the non-6-bit version.
On the used market the Leica Macro-Elmar-M 90mm f/4 (6-bit) is preferred over the non-coded version for digital M use. Condition checks: front element, rangefinder coupling, 6-bit coding tabs. Leica M mount.
