Olympus's compact mid-range MFT body with 5-axis IBIS and built-in EVF.
The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II launched in 2015 as Olympus's entry-level OM-D body. With 5-axis IBIS, a built-in EVF, and a compact body, it offered features typically found in more expensive cameras at an accessible price. It was the gateway drug to the OM-D system for many photographers.
Key features include the 16.1MP sensor, 5-axis IBIS with approximately 4 stops, 81-point contrast-detect AF, built-in EVF, 3-inch tilting touchscreen, and 8.5fps burst. The body is compact and lightweight with attractive styling. There is no weather sealing.
The E-M10 II brought IBIS to Olympus's entry level, a feature no competitor matched at this price. It is praised for stabilisation, image quality, and compact size. It is criticised for 16MP resolution and contrast-detect-only AF. The E-M10 III added 4K; the IV added 20MP.
Very affordable used. Check IBIS operation, the tilting screen, and EVF for dead pixels. The E-M10 IV with 20MP is the current recommendation. The Mark II remains capable and one of the best value MFT bodies for casual photography.
