Tamron's stabilised APS-C f/2.8 — the SP 17-50mm VC for Nikon with optical stabilisation.
The Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II VC LD ASPH IF is the VC (Vibration Compensation) version of the SP 17-50mm f/2.8 for Nikon F-mount APS-C cameras. Di II designates APS-C image circle; for Nikon mount, this remains 'Nikon F' per the Nikon DX convention. VC adds stabilisation absent from the non-VC Canon version.
The lens covers 17–50mm at constant f/2.8 with VC stabilisation, XR glass, LD low-dispersion, ASPH aspherical correction, IF internal focusing, SP optical quality, and Nikon F-mount autofocus. Di II APS-C image circle.
VC stabilisation at f/2.8 is useful for handheld video and slower shutter speed photography. The constant f/2.8 from 17–50mm on APS-C covers the most important indoor focal range at a fast, consistent aperture. The VC Nikon version provides capability beyond the non-VC Canon equivalent.
Test VC operation and AF speed. Verify constant f/2.8 across the zoom range. Check Di II APS-C image circle confirmation on the intended Nikon APS-C body. Inspect LD and ASPH element condition.
