Zeiss's ultra-wide prime for Fujifilm X — the autofocus Touit 12mm with outstanding optics.
The Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 was released in 2013 as part of Zeiss's short-lived Touit autofocus lens line for APS-C mirrorless cameras. In Fujifilm X mount, it provides an 18mm equivalent ultra-wide perspective. The Touit series represented Zeiss's first foray into autofocus lenses, combining their optical expertise with modern AF technology.
Optical performance is excellent — Zeiss optical quality in a compact APS-C package. Sharpness is very good from f/2.8 and outstanding by f/5.6. Distortion is impressively well-controlled for a 12mm lens on APS-C. The T* multi-coating provides excellent contrast and flare resistance. Colour rendition has the neutral, precise character typical of Zeiss lenses.
Fujifilm X mount with electronic autofocus. Filter thread is 67mm. Weight is approximately 270 grams — compact for an ultra-wide with this optical quality. Build quality is excellent with a metal barrel. No weather sealing. Also available in Sony E mount. The Touit line was discontinued, making these lenses increasingly uncommon.
Uncommon on the used market as production was limited. Prices can be attractive when found, as the Touit brand lacks the name recognition of other Zeiss lines. Check AF operation carefully — the early AF implementation was not Zeiss's strongest. An excellent ultra-wide for Fuji X shooters who value optical precision.
